By Luc Boudreau, MA, Professional Counselor Associate, with advanced training in EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS)
If you’re tired of second-guessing yourself, holding back, or feeling like you’re never “enough,” you’re not alone—and you don’t have to stay stuck in those patterns. My work as a therapist is grounded in helping clients rebuild their relationship with themselves from the inside out.
I specialize in working with people who are navigating issues related to self-doubt, low self-esteem, and lack of confidence, each of which shows up in different ways:
Self-Doubt: The Inner Critic on Repeat
You constantly question your decisions, overthink everything, and feel paralyzed when it’s time to take action. You might appear capable on the outside, but inside, there’s a voice saying, “What if I mess this up?” or “I don’t trust myself.”
In therapy, we’ll explore the roots of your self-doubt—often shaped by earlier life experiences or trauma—and begin to quiet that critical voice so you can make decisions with clarity and confidence.
Low Self-Esteem: “I Don’t Like Who I Am”
You may find yourself minimizing your accomplishments, comparing yourself to others, or believing that you’re not lovable or worthy just as you are. This can be exhausting and isolating.
I help clients identify where these beliefs began and, more importantly, offer tools to replace them with a stronger, more compassionate view of self. You’ll learn how to stop looking outside yourself for approval and start feeling grounded in who you are.

Lack of Confidence: Hiding, Holding Back, or Playing Small
You have big ideas but fear speaking up. You hold back in relationships, meetings, or opportunities because you don’t trust your voice or abilities.
Together, we’ll work on building embodied self-confidence—not the “fake it till you make it” kind, but the kind that grows from true self-connection and internal strength.
My Approach: Gentle, Deep, and Trauma-Informed
Many of these challenges are rooted in past experiences—sometimes even subtle or “invisible” traumas—that shaped how you see yourself. I use trauma-informed methods to help you heal at the source:
- EMDR helps reprocess and release old beliefs and stored emotional pain so you’re not carrying the past into the present.
- Internal Family Systems (IFS) helps you explore the different “parts” of you—like the inner critic or the part that hides—and build a more compassionate relationship with them.
- Somatic practices support you in reconnecting with your body, calming your nervous system, and increasing emotional resilience.
These aren’t just trendy buzzwords—research shows that EMDR and IFS can lead to long-lasting improvements in self-esteem, emotion regulation, and trauma resolution.
What You Can Expect to Gain:
- A clearer sense of identity and worth
- More trust in your decisions and direction
- A quieter inner critic and increased self-compassion
- A confident, embodied presence in work, relationships, and daily life
- The ability to speak up, take risks, and show up more fully as yourself
You’re Not Alone—And You’re Not the Only One Who Feels This Way
I’ve worked with many men and individuals who are high-functioning on the outside—smart, capable, driven—but silently struggling with self-doubt, shame, or feeling like an imposter. You’re not too far gone, and there’s nothing defective about you. Often, these patterns formed as ways to survive, not because something is wrong with you.
In therapy, we’ll work together to untangle those patterns, understand where they came from, and help you finally feel solid in who you are.
